Dr Maria Montessori's early learning program is based on, the Intellectual, the Physical, the Spiritual, and the Emotional development of the child. Our class is beautifully settled. The children are socializing, concentrating, and welcoming new exercises, which we call "work". You have your "work", and the children are proud to have their "work". Our work consists of choosing a "Sensorial" or "Practical Life" exercise, and taking it to a table. Psychologically, there is decision making (what work, and with whom ?), and then the development of confidence in the joy of completing the "work", followed by returning the work to its place on the shelf. Neurologically, these exercises aid the development of the pincer muscles, and concentration. Your child works at his/her own rythm. Socialization is a big step for the Toddler. Learning who she/he is, and learning to share. Socialization plays an important role in our classroom. Language is developing rapidly. Speaking to our children softly, gently, and slowly, will help the child create a precise vocabulary, and help establish communication.
These various exercices are presented in English and in French.

What are "Practical Life" and "Sensorial exercices" ? Washing hands, washing the table, polishing furniture, cutting fruit and vegetables, setting the table, serving one another, magnets, building cubes, dressing, closures, flower arranging, etc. Dr. Maria Montessori determined that the young child finds satisfaction order, learning categorization, completing, and putting away the "work". Your child is "absorbing" through presentations, repetition, and imitation. Dr. Montessori determined that the child, during the first six years, only, experiences a "sensitive period of order", which, if nurtured, will last a lifetime. We are nurturing this "sensitive period of order", and observing the joy of learning.

Grace and Courtesy is another important, and integral part of our program."Hello, Max". "How are you, Sophie ?" "Fine, thank you, Paule" "Thank you, Leanne", "Thank you very much, Gregoire", "Excuse me, Mommy". Grace and Courtesy is applied daily in French, and in English. This fosters RESPECT, upon which the Montessori philosophy founded.

Art and Music are an integral part of our work period.
